As a bass player myself, I really appreciate Jimmy Johnson. He doesn't overrun anybody aand keeps it right in the pocket and in the groove during his solo which I though was really melodic and fit the song perfectly. Like Lee, he can say something with just the well placed notes rather than tearing up the neck. He cooks.

Seven years later and Jimmy still killed it! Goddamn that Alembic sounds good!

The guy playing the cowbell definitely seems like he is having the most fun here.

Jimmy Johnson is one of the most locking-in bass players I've EVER heard or will hear in the future. Amazing!

Horray for Jimmy Johnson: the FIRST to play a 5-stringed bass with the low b!!!

It's been 10 years I'm listening this song, and every time the bass solo is kicking my ass. So groovy

I first heard Jimmy Johnson with the Wayne Johnson Trio around 1980, a group that never received the recognition it deserved. If you have not heard/heard of the Wayne Johnson Trio, search YouTube for the 'Live at the Comeback Inn' videos.

Jimmy Johnson's one of my favorite bassists. His tone is usually pretty dark for playing an Alembic but here he's really letting it come through for a change.

IMO, this is one of the two best live versions of Rio Funk--very easy on the ears and not overdone....and yes, I can't get enough of Jimmy Johnson's awesome bass solo, always on point.

Love Jimmy Johnson's playing. Not only does he play with Lee Rit including his 6 String record, but also on Allan Holdworth Metal Fatigue record and James Taylor including his double live CD. This year in 2019 he is playing with Steve Gadd and his band. See him if you dare.
