Why Tua Doesn’t Need A Guardian Cap

The problem is he was wearing the vicis v2 when he got his concussions so for tua just having a safe helmet is not enough to prevent injury.

The more concussions youve had the easier it is to have another one.... So you could have the safest helmet ever made but it takes way less to shut the lights off if its not your first concussion

The guardian cap has better protection for the back of the head. For most players this is not that important but remember, Tua’s earlier concussions were when the back of his head slammed against the ground. If he wore the guardian cap and didn’t run head first into a defender than his chances will improve at least a little bit

The immediate stopping from hitting the ground is what causes these concussions. Only so much you can prevent when the ground doesn't move but youre head, brain and neck will. Tbh the helmet is part the problem by giving a false sense if security. More padding is probably going to lead to harder hits and be a net neutral solution at best

There's also cleats now that Joe Flacco is using where the studs give and flex so the studs take the brunt of the force when planting your foot instead of the player's leg. These helmets and cleats will probably end up mandatory soon I would assume.

They should do more to stabilize the neck instead of just the head. Padding the head doesn’t change the amount your neck whips back and forth causing your brain to move INSIDE the padding

We had these helmets for my high school since 2020. Shit were awesome right after we went to state. Bloomfield NM. We where a top ten in football

Let’s hope those caps work better for their long term health. Just yesterday the biggest boxe legend of my country died only at 66 after battling traumatic encephalopathy for years. It was not a pretty ending to a life of dedication to a beautiful sport.

Youngsters probably don’t remember Mark Kelso from the Bills - he had a giant helmet with a shell on top of a regular helmet because he got migraines from concussions.

Pushing the field-goal uprights to the back of the end-zone instead of the front is actually the best innovation in football.
