75 years old listening here in the Philippines. Fond memories of this song on the radio when I was going through Navy Boot Camp in 1966. Boy, time flies.

I'm retired, but was out in my backyard doing trimming some overgrown bushes. It was getting dim starting into dusk. I looked at my watch and it was exactly 5 O'Clock P.M., time to maybe stop. This song popped into my mind out of nowhere. It kept running through my mind over and again. Now inside, I'm listening to the 1965 old version that I remember so well from my teenage years at 15 yrs old. Love this Vougues song ! ~ Boss and Groovy !

A song that is timeless. Rings as true today as it did then.

It's beyond criminal that The Vogues are not in The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

So quirky, so melodic, so memorable. Is there any 2023 writer who can match even this ancient hit?

Memories of time aboard my ship in Beth Steel Shipyard, Baltimore, Summer of lined-up to knock-off at 5pm every day....for me, dreaming of the future....a future that has exceeded expectations.

I remember the Vogues as a great group. This song brings a lot of memories about growing up in a blue collar, work a day family. Things like meeting your best girl after a tough day on the assembly line or factory and that her love made it all worthwhile.

My uncle used to work with one of the Vogues before they made it big, at Westinghouse Air Brake in Wilmerding. PA.

Great arrangement and "wall of sound, " and some of the best backup singing ever.

"...And I got a reason I can still go on when every other reason is gone, yeah yeah and my five o'clock world she waits for me, nothing else matters at all..." man what lyrics! So well sung!

I can understand your pain 71 and back when I was a junior in high school I had a crush on a girl who loved this song but she liked another boy. This was the beginning of learning the meaning of rejection but every time I hear this song I close my eyes and see her -

Saw this group at our little Jefferson County (WV) Fair in the 90s. Largest crowd at that time for us oldie fans. All were on our feet.

I loved this song the first time I heard it back in the swinging sixties as a adolescent.
