LYRICS

Looking around me
I see a new world
I used to know

Life is a mystery
Remember the trips to Bedruthan
It feels like days ago

Another grey hair
Gotta let it go

Lately
Look in the mirror it’s hazy
Who is that figure before me
He looks a bit like my old man

And maybe
I’ll play this song when I’m 80
I’ll have a son and a family
He looks a bit like his old man
My old man

When I’m not around I’ll sing it to you
Through your big car stereo
My great great great grandson

Catching a flight all over the globe
But this dressing room is all I know
It’s all I know

Another grey hair
And another show

Lately
Look in the mirror it’s hazy
Who is that figure before me
He looks a bit like my old man

And maybe
I’ll play this song when I’m 80
I’ll have a son and a family
He looks a bit like his old man

His old man
His old man
My old man

Old Man is out! It’s a special song to me. Shout out to all the father and sons in the video… including my dad Peter ❤

Don't mind admitting a few tears watching this. I'm getting pretty close to the age my old man was when he died and looking in the mirror and seeing someone that looks a bit like him is something I've been experiencing more and more. Thanks, Tom.

I grew up without a dad.
He's not dead, just didn't care.

If I'll ever be a father, I will be there! That's all it needs.

Oh man, this made me cry it's so beautiful. Being in my 30s - starting to see my dad age, starting to see myself become him, and thinking about becoming a dad myself. Hit me right in the soul.

My heart. As cheesy as it sounds, I dream of being a dad daily. I still wonder if I'll have a family of my own or meant for one. Tom, im so glad you exist

My old man is a musician like me. He experienced all the ups and downs of this philosophy of life, which is so cruel to less-than-established artists. Poetry, writing, and the guitar don't always pay the rent in Argentina, and I've seen that bittersweet look on his face more than once, seeing that his son lived music with the same intensity. Music is the purest thing; my father's sensitivity is the best inheritance he could have given me.
I'm proud to be his son.
Gracias Tom!!!
Te amo viejo!

I like to think that this is a memoir from the couple in ‘movie’. They were separated, but reunited and happily married. They are old now and remembering life when they were young, and even though it is hard to remember (the hazy mirror), the husband can remember what he was aspiring for as a traveling musician (“the curls on the back of his head bounced out of my life”). The trade offs of being a musician were hard, (“this dressing room is all I know”) but made the song to give a gift to his grand children. The success and life of a musician can be a bumpy road, but with goals and aspirations, even with fame, it all comes and goes and all they want is a wife, kids, and to settle down.

Tom. This is a BEAUTIFUL song. Thanks for gifting us this.

Crazy coincidence, I lost my dad on the day that this song was posted.
He was the best Dad I ever wanted/needed the only thing that hurts the most watching this song is that I can't have these father/son moment ever. all is frozen in time, nothing new to be made. 😢

Beautiful song. Made me think of my dad who I lost at the beginning of the year and miss him a little bit more today.

I don't have an old man. The old men of my life have hurt their loved ones, have melted within themselves and withered away, leaving only pain in their wake and no memories.
They may not have had their own old men, and I hurt for them too. We are branches of loss. This here branch will stop.
This video makes a lot of things swirl in me. I appreciate what you do Tom.

I love my dad so dearly and I hope he doesn't judge me for not becoming a father, myself. He was a wonderful father to me and my brother. I'm just not a dad, and I never will be, but I still want to be the best person I can be for him and humanity.

The pat on the back during the end credits is what every son needs.

The first notes make me smile. Nostalgically bright and sweet. Thank you for being back, Tom Misch. We needed your music.

As a man that has recently become a dad, this has hit me so hard. That scene staring out the window holding my son is a moment i have every day. Beautiful song. Cheers Tom.

A song that has brought inexplicable emotions.

My dad would've been 70 today. On this day 21/03... 1955 my Father was born. Always feeling your presence dad!
