Getting started with Suminagashi supplies

I created a visual guide to help you gather basic supplies for Suminagashi. 🎉 Let me know in the comments if you have any specific questions or content you would like me to cover in the future. Happy marbling! 😄

Suminagashi (墨流し), often translated to "floating ink," is the ancient Japanese technique of marbling. For me, it is art therapy.

There is something so healing about lightly touching your brushes to the surface of the water and creating those entrancing ink rings. Any slight breath or movement and a new design will take shape. You can't control it. You can't replicate it. It just is. In turn, forcing you to just go with its flow. To live and create without certainty.

Hi, thanks for sharing your process, material and technique! Really beautiful suminagashi artworks. May I ask you if you have tried on watercolor paper? I bought a black sumi-e ink and tried in Canson Watercolor 300g paper, which I really like in texture and thickness (I saw that a danish artist uses a similar watercolor paper and it works for him (not sure what type of ink he uses, he says that an indian ink)), but I am not able to get the black tone that I expected, it seems that the paper doesn't absorb the ink properly and I am just able to get a greyish tone. Any thoughts?

Hi thanks for your video! After printing my design, the ink tends to bleed a little bit when I lift the paper. Any tips to reduce this?

I also have a problem with the ink staying on. I read the advice in the previous comment and unfortunately it didn't give much. The ink stays about 30 seconds on the surface and then falls off. In another video I saw that they use kodak-flo. What do you think about it?
