Severe weather in eastern U.S. impacting flights

On the morning on Aug. 8, over 3,000 flights were cancelled and more than 700 were delayed.

Oh my, we had severe thunderstorms in the summer, is this the 1st time this has happened

This appears to be a scud cloud. No visible rotation of clouds around the funnel and there are many other scud clouds surrounding the base. A well established mesocyclone with a wall cloud would be spinning too fast for these type of hanging clouds to be existing and barely moving. Could be wrong but it appears to me to just be a scary looking cloud.
