Aaron Davis is a lecturer in Architecture at the University of South Australia in Adelaide, with a teaching and research interest in social and environmental sustainability and community engagement processes. He works with a focus on health and wellbeing using architectural design and computer simulations. In this video, he will discuss the Neuroscience Optimized Virtual Environments Living Lab (NOVELL), stroke rehabilitation, co-design, and the evaluation of complex design options for healthcare.

This lecture is part of the online course Considering Health Equity through Architecture: Approaches for Creating Healthy Communities. It was initially offered on January 16, 2024 by the University of Maryland Global Campus, and coordinated by Epidemic Urbanism Initiative Director and Co-Founder Dr. Mohammad Gharipour and EUI Program Coordinator Dr. Angela Andersen, with Graduate Teaching Assistant Jessica Bowers. The course brings together international experts in the fields of architecture, design, public health and health equity. Each speaker shares their knowledge and insights on building healthier communities for all. Speakers take case studies from their own practice, teaching, and research to respond to critical questions:  How do cities both spread and contain contagious diseases? How does access to clean water, nature, transportation, community centers and other resources impact the health of communities? How do architecture, healthcare and policy intersect?
