How to make soft and flavorful lemon scones from scratch.

Ingredients:
2 Tablespoons Lemon Zest
1/3 Cup Sugar + 1 Tablespoon Sugar
2 Cups All Purpose Flour
2 Teaspoons Baking Powder
1/2 Teaspoon Baking Soda
3/4 Teaspoon Salt
1/2 Cup Butter, Frozen (1 Stick)
3/4 Cup Heavy Whipping Cream + 1 Tablespoon Cream
1 Large Egg

Glaze:
1 Cup Powdered Sugar
1-2 Tablespoons Lemon Juice

Directions:
1. Combine 1/3 cup sugar and lemon zest in a mixing bowl and with clean hands, rub them together using your fingers. Add the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt and whisk until well combined.
2. Using the large holes of a box grater, grate butter into dry ingredients. Use a fork to toss together until butter shreds are coated in the dry ingredients.
3. In a cup or bowl, whisk the egg and 3/4 cup cream until well combined. Pour egg mixture into dry ingredients and use a fork to mix together just until combined. Do not over-mix, dough will be crumbly.
4. Transfer dough to a parchment lined baking sheet. Pat the dough together and form into a disk about 7 inches wide. Slice into 8 wedges. Separate wedges, placing them about 2 inches apart. Brush scones with cream and sprinkle with remaining sugar. Bake in a preheated oven at 400F for 20 minutes or until golden, rotating baking sheet halfway through baking.
5. Let scones cool completely on a wire rack. In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar and lemon juice. Glaze should be not too runny. Drizzle glaze over the scones and let stand 10 minutes until glaze is set.
