Waylon and I were distant cousins. I saw him once at a family reunion a million years ago. I didn't have the heart to go over and introduce myself and shake his hand because "relatives" had Waylon surrounded and were hounding him for autographs. He gave me a little smile and nod across the room, as if to say, "Thank you for giving me some space."

I heard this song for the first time last night in the movie "Crazy Heart." I had to come and watch Waylon sing it. Pretty damn impressive. Now I see what all the fuss was about.
