Conversion inches to meters

**ATTENTION**

1 inch= 0.0254 M

you can skip the extra step of converting inches to cm and cm to M

6.54inch * 0.0254 = 0.166 M

But what about a conversion where there is a conversion between two units that are a little apart like feet to meters

Sorry for silly question maybe.. I live in South Africa and we all use Meters. I want to learn about inch myself. I am really confusing with Inch like for example I see on drawing 11'6", 6'18" etc.. what is ' and what is " next to number, all i know ' mean inch right? then what is "?

why not just do this 6, 54 / 39.37 = 0, 166 (we know that in one meter is 39, 37 inches)
