I’m tired of cameras not having a viewfinder.

I purchased the SX70 a few month ago and have used it for my product and outdoor photography. It is an interesting camera. I have enough zoom to make it worthwhile for outdoor photography, but yet I can get some very tight photos for product use, both indoor and outdoor.

I also have a T3i, T7, and invested in a 90D that can use the same lenses as my T3i and T7; there is a lot of flexibility going on. I do find the SX70 more convenient as I do not worry about what lens I am going to use. Is the SX70 a very good camera for newbie photographers like me? I think so. I have been using the SX70 to improve my knowledge of photography (composition, lighting, shutter priority, aperture priority, and ISO) because the camera can quickly adapt to different photo opportunities - and me with it.

I don't buy a camera for video, as I have a video-cam dedicated for that. With that said, I have used a Nikon A1000 for videos. Albeit bulky and heavy, the Nikon P900 has also graced the table at times.

A good bridge camera has a place, and the SX70 will keep its place in my hands.

My biggest issue is these companies keep omitting the viewfinder. That is one of the main draws to me for carrying a dedicated camera, so it either has to have an EVF or optional EVF. I am also surprised there is no smart phone EVF attachment accessory yet, guessing someone might have a patent locked down maybe?

i hope this rumor is true because this is exactly the news i've been waiting for. im among those who want a dedicated compact camera to carry around. i do not want to rely on my phone for pictures and videos. i much prefer using dedicated devices.
unfortunately, other than the rx100 VA, i havent found a camera has great AF, fast lens, flash, and reasonable zoom range for my needs. but im not keen on spending $1000 on a camera from 2018, and im wary of buying used. but im sad to see it discontinued as it had been on my radar.
i look forward to this new era for compact cameras. i love my eos r10, but i dont want to carry it around if im not "out shooting." i need something pocketable to replace my phone for casual photos. it's about time camera manufacters caught up with the resurgance in demand for compact yet powerful cameras.

Great video! I would like to see new point and shoot/zoom cameras. Just make them good. EVF, with a tilt screen I would be there. but I think the flippy screens are going to dominate. If they retro style it, then it be better. The digicam market is insanely priced now, but not getting a point and shoot/zoom for $800.00 + Thanks for sharing!

Would be great if it would have at least x15-x30. It is sad that for decade we do not have any improvements in theese. For travel camera, phones still lack of good zoom quality.

Good if dual pixel has finally reached Canon compacts as the focusing in Canon has been weak as a whole with their neglect of contrast detect. Point a Canon at even a defined cloud they struggle. Hopefully you can hold in the info button to instantly up the screen brightness which is a excellent feature on their cameras and does help in bright conditions. A pity if in a new superzoom if Canon has bowed to the obsession with low light photography amongst the review industry and cut the reach.
