I hope that pricing continues. They will pack out every train if they do. In restaurant prices, your dinner alone was at least 30 Euros including the wine. Then add another 10 for breakfast. So you paid approx 80 Euros for a sleeper cabin. You would hardly get across France for 80 Euros, and that would be just for a seat. Remarkable.

Have recently subscribed to your channel. Being 74 and with some minor mobility issues, I particularly enjoy and welcome your cost benefitting tips. Glad I'm now a regular viewer.

And remember, Alba during fall = truffle fair, an absolute must see event

This is perfect timing! I'm just researching a possible Italy by rail trip and this has given me some great inspiration :)

I think your channel is not about food (outside the trains or train stations) however, it's worth mentioning i think Alba is the place where Nutella was invented.

Very nice. Glad to see state railways doing this. They have other luxury trains in the works.

Enjoyed that, Paul. Something I might try.
Had my first experience of Italian trains earlier this year, between Verona and Venice. I was impressed.
Happy New Year.

Nice video of a lovely train. What do you mean there's no danger on such a train?? I've watched James Bond. He always gets attacked on nice trains!

Fantastic review Paul. You can hear that genuine positivity coming through for something that is "setting new standards". Also I note the wine list / prices - what can I say + I'm jealous don't get these in a restaurant let alone a train I'm the UK.
Great review and wishing you all the best for 2025. Cheers. 😀

Great train travel like this used to happen in North America until the late 1960s when planes and cars took over.

Treni Turistici Italiani also operates a daytime train between Milan and Nice as well as another sleeper with a dining car included, the Espresso Cadore, which connects Rome to Santo Stefano di Cadore and an onward bus to Cortina d'Ampezzo in North Eastern Italy.

Recently, they also created at short notice a special sleeper service between Turin, Milan, and Sicily with a special price of €32 on way for residents of Sicily travelling home during the holidays, as there is a huge controversy about steep train and airlines fares between Northern and Southern Italy during Christmas.

Next time you're around Alba/Asti, go have dinner at my family's restaurant in Costigliole d'Asti: ristorante Collavini ;)

When this rolling stock was in use for Paris-Venice, they had one car with en-suite shower rooms - strange not to have retained that, although the actual stock could have gone elsewhere by now. Those cabins had originally slept 4 and were more spacious for two than any other sleeper I've seen/used.
