Led Zeppelin - A Soundboard Platter

preview_player
Показать описание
This is a collection of soundboard recordings from Zeppelin's 1973 UK and European tours. Although many of the songs are repeated, the instrumental interplay is a wonder to behold. This period is considered by many to be Led Zeppelin's instrumental peak, and the songs preserved on here are a testament to it.

NOTE: Many of the songs presented here have cuts. This is due to Jimmy Page's instructions to the sound men to record the jams in songs like Dazed and Confused and Whole Lotta Love in order to determine how the lighting should be done for the band's then imminent American tour. Even with the cuts though, this is a spectacular compilation in my opinion. Nevertheless, they are a tad jarring, so don't adjust your volume too much or you might get deafened by the sound. :)

Stairway to Heaven had to be edited due to copyright.

Bonham’s fill during the Whole Lotta Love reprise alone is proof alone that he was one of the greatest drummers of all time 43:17

This is something from some other realm that no longer exists in our current dimension.

It would be cool if Jimmy would officially release stuff like this INSTEAD of remastering the same albums every 7 years.

Listening further, I remember when Robert had his full powerful vocal range in 1970 . It was unbelievable ! When he had that bad vocal strain it broke my heart for him who was so invincible once, to watch him struggle vocally, unable to do what came naturally to him 2 years before . He even spoke of it once in a show I was at . In introducing a new song from Physical he said -This is a new song from PG and, strangely enough, due to the strain that I have, it's quite an apt time, it's called In My Time of Dying - A sad moment for me to imagine the difficulties for him, once being able to fly vocally ! Check out the old stuff and 9/19/70 at the Garden . That's Robert at his best !

2:12:20 and on is unlike anything I’ve ever heard. Those pauses are incredible for some reason

The more material you post the more I appreciate Bonham. That says a lot considering that I grew up on Zeppelin.

They were so great live, I first saw them in 1970 9/19 at the Garden, which was the greatest show EVER, but their development of these Dazed and Confused sections grew each year for many tours. Ad-lib was a big part of Zeppelin . they had certain cue's that brought in other parts, but in-between they were fearless, and did whatever popped in their heads and picked up on each other's thoughts ! A solo could be 5 minutes or 20 minutes . I love those days and cherish the memories I have of the Garden shows and the vibe that was in the air in my youth !

Man, Robert sounds so good in most of these! I wonder how he'd have sounded throughout the rest of their timeline if he didn't get his vocal surgery later in 1973. Obviously no way to know, but fun to speculate.

Just the ending of Whole lotta Love is enough to make your head explode, LZB is incredible.

A lot of Jimmys solos are similar to the way he played them on their live album so I'm guessing this is 1973. And yeah, Jimmy and Bonzo love playing off each other!

Love this channel. The music is incredible here. Page and Bonham are soaring. The Elvis stuff is outrageous.

Totally digging this. The variety in their space sequences is just marvelous. They are most certainly organic.

The best place to hear these tapes, correct speed and pitch. Got this a few years ago, 4 disc set in double case, if you can find it, buy it! Zeppelin at their peak, unbelievable playing, hamburg show is astounding, bonzo at his very best! ✌

At 3:10:08, the little Bo Diddley thing bears strong resemblance to "Flashing Lights" of Lord Sutch and Heavy Friends, of which both Page and Bonham were involved.

Ha...more good stuff. It was the fearless live playing that made these guys rock
royalty. And yes, sans Bonzo, no Zeppelin. Chemistry yes, but a friendship and
camaraderie that eluded so many other talented outfits. Bonzo's death was
devastating to me, yet if they had continued with anyone else I would have lost
all respect. All respect to Jason, but a mere shadow of DAD. John came up with
all those timeless ideas. He told Robert early on, and I paraphrase, "you're good,
but you'd be a lot better with me". Thank you for putting this out !
Saw Return to Forever a few years ago; Lenny White spoke of boy bands not
playing instruments anymore...then surveyed his buds Stanley Clarke, Chick Corea,
Frank Gambale, and said, "This is a man band". Btw, When Lenny heard that Bonzo
was a big fan of his drumming, he was amazed and impressed. Bonzo cast a wide
swath, but was a huge fan of the incredible drummers out there. Big ears, ..big
listening. ..and fearless

Robert sounds so great on the various versions of I Can't Quit You and the call and response interplay between him and Jimmy is fantastic. Love, love, love when they're doing the blues.

Jimmy, Jimmy, Jimmy, why didn't you 'tape' these early concerts? THANK YOU, Led Zeppelin Boots, you are true blue.
