I just love the way you present the information in your videos. It is all very helpful, silly, and relatable. Thank you.

I am currently in the FNP program (I finish this Saturday which is super Graduation is in January. My program is full-time and I worked full-time from the beginning of the program (January 2018) until July of this year. In July, my last course and clinical rotation required more clinical hours so I had to cut down how much I actually worked from then until now. Although I worked "full-time" my status in the hospital is per-diem. I've had it that way since the beginning of the program just in case I wasn't able to work as much, I didn't have to deal with the commitment of being a full-time employee. I worked mostly every Saturday, Sunday, and Monday (unless I got canceled). I went to clinicals every Tuesday and Thursday. I would work on my homework assignments after leaving clinicals and leave Wednesdays and Fridays for homework I didn't finish and to study (and breath if possible lol). Most assignments were due Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays so I definitely had to stay organized. The locations where I went for clinicals were usually open 5 days a week (sometimes 6 days a week). I was always flexible with them regarding the days I could come in, but quickly learned Tuesday and Thursdays were usually good days for everyone so I kept to that schedule. Also, most of the offices either closed early on Wednesdays or Fridays so I stayed away from those days to reduce the frequency in which I actually had to drive to that location (get the most amount of hours in a day). It was very, tiring but it is possible. Right now I work every Saturday and Sunday. I really want to say thank you for all of the videos you post, Liz! Seeing you go from NP student, to working as an NP, posting videos, your amazingly supportive relationship, raising Avery, and growing your beautiful family has definitely reinforced that there is light at the end of this super intense tunnel :) Also, thank you for the Picmonic recommendation in your previous videos of how you studied for your boards, it is awesome!

Thank you so much for this video! I’m currently in school working on my Master’s degree as a Clinical Nurse Specialist. I’m working full time (night shifts) on the weekends, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday! Monday is my quote on quote “off day”/catch up on school work day. Then I do 8 hour clinical days on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday! My spare time is pretty much nonexistent and I’ve been contemplating possibly going part time! It’s so nice to know that other people are going through the same thing and made it!!

Thank you so much for this Liz. I just started my FNP program (week 3!) and I'm working two or three days a week in urgent care (eight-hour shifts) trying to work more weekends. I used to have a case management job that was Mon-Thurs and with commuting, going in early (I was salaried) etc, I realized it just wasn't going to work with school. I was out of the house 7 am to 6 pm four days a week and never felt like doing anything when I got home. I am finding that I can't spend eight hours in a row doing school stuff so it's way better for me to divide it up over several days of the week instead of trying to do everything in two or three days. We do all our didactic work first so I don't have to worry about fitting in clinical days until the end. But I'm very happy to have the flexibility to work weekends.

I am over a year and a half into my FNP program and currently am working an almost full time position at my hospital where I do 3 shifts one week and 2 the next.I started this a few months in to my program and it has been a life saver to have that extra day every other week. You wouldn't think one day would make that much difference, but oh it really does! I start clinicals in January and am going to go PRN right around Thanksgiving. I am hoping to have some holiday time with the family this year since it has been years since I've been off a lot around the holidays. (#nurseprobs) Anyway, you are such an inspiration and I love your channel and decided to quit being a creeper LOL. I love the nursing and FNP content since it applies to me, but I love your family vlogs as well. Your kiddos are beautiful gifts!

Love your videos. The information is very granular which is SO helpful. General, broad brush information like "your time management skills must be great" are simply not helpful. The information in your videos, on the other hand, provide the information I can actually use to plan NP school versus working. Keep 'em coming!!

I am currently a full time employee and full time student but it has been hell on wheels. I can’t go part time or pen because of contract reasons but I hope that I will be able to in the near future. I’m excited since I switched to Acute Care

I’m in a FNP program and prior to the start of clinical (224 hours per semester plus didactic) I worked full time then dropped down to part time now that I’m approaching my last semester (January 2020) I work per diem night shift primarily on the weekend.

Thanks for another great video😊.

Currently in FNP school working full time / school full time. It wasn't really a problem during the theory classes but with clinical starting next week I had to organize my schedule a bit more so I'll be working Thurs / Fri / Saturday every week with clinical Mon / Tues / Weds.

That being said I don't have a family so I have no idea and give all the props in the world to all the working / schooling mom's and dad's out there. Really don't know how you do it but you're amazing!

My current situation: Lol!! The employer says..."You want to work weekends? Ha, SURE, you're crazy!!"🤣🤣 I recently left my M-F Nurse Educator job in prep for my 3 "P" courses that start in August. I figure the contract pay for now @ a hospital will help me gain financially for now 🙃. I cried and cried due to leaving my desk job but to reach my goals, I have to make this sacrifice!

I worked full time until I couldn’t. Now I’m taking out a bigger federal loan. I’m staying away from private because once I’m done I will do an income driven repayment plan and 10yr loan forgiveness plan. I’m being frugal as hell rn but working FT wasn’t worth my mental health or worth risking my academic success.

I graduated in My 2018 with my BSN from a 4 year college. Every summer I would work 50 hours at Wendy’s and work every holiday break I had from school. It was nice not having to worry about juggling working and studying while in college; in retrospect, I wish I would’ve worked 20 hour weeks year round so I could’ve enjoyed my summers and holiday breaks more. I have no plans to go back to school any time soon, but I feel like working weekends would make the most sense for me and my schedule. Thanks for sharing!

I really want to go to school to become a radiology technician. I work 3/12s. Saturday, Sunday & Monday as a sheriffs deputy. Then my daughter is with me weekdays from Monday night to Friday night. Wondering if Programs are flexible with clinical days and allow on line courses or classes through virtual.

I’m a baby nurse so I plan to work full time and attend school part time in order to invest in the hospital that hired me. 🙂

This video helped a lot. I start in January and I am having to decide what to do with my M-F 8-5 job. I am thinking I need to go back to 12's and work my time on nightshift so I can be on dayshift by the time I start the clinical portion. I didn't even think about how many *days* I would lose if I worked weekend night shifts. Thanks again!

I'm thinking if I should ask to go to weekends only now... allows PT schedule but FT benefits.
