"Κατά την τηλεφωνική μας συνομιλία κατέστησα σαφές στον Πρωθυπουργό ότι αντιμετωπίζουμε σαφέστατη παραβίαση των κυριαρχικών δικαιωμάτων της πατρίδας.
Η πρέπουσα αντιμετώπιση σε αυτήν την πρόκληση είναι η διενέργεια νηοψίας στο τουρκικό ερευνητικό σκάφος, ως αυτονόητη άσκηση εθνικής κυριαρχίας και η βύθιση του, εάν δεν υπακούσει στις εντολές.
Επέστησα την προσοχή για την ανάγκη υπεράσπισης του κεντρικού Αιγαίου, διακαούς στόχου της Τουρκίας, που ενδέχεται να χρησιμοποιήσει τις κινήσεις του Oruc Reis ως αντιπερισπασμό για να μετατοπιστεί η ελληνική γραμμή άμυνας των νησιών.
Εστίασα στην ηχηρή απουσία της Ευρωπαΐκής Ένωσης και ζήτησα την επίκληση του άρθρου 42 για την κοινή ευρωπαΐκή άμυνα. Ακρογωνιαίος λίθος σε κάθε εξωτερική απειλή είναι η ομοψυχία του έθνους.
Ομοψυχία όμως που μπορεί να επιτευχθεί μόνο με την σύγκληση του συμβουλίου των πολιτικών αρχηγών ώστε να χαραχθούν οι κόκκινες γραμμές του έθνους απέναντι στους εισβολείς.
Τέλος, χαρακτήρισα αυτονόητη αναγκαιότητα την συνεδρίαση της Επιτροπής Εξωτερικών και Άμυνας, ώστε να υπάρχει λεπτομερής ενημέρωση των πολιτικών κομμάτων για τα τεκταινόμενα."

I drew attention to the need to defend the central Aegean, an ardent target of Turkey, which may use Oruc Reis's moves as a distraction to shift the Greek line of defense of the islands.
I focused on the resounding absence of the European Union and called for the invocation of Article 42 on the common European defense. The cornerstone of any external threat is the solidarity of the nation.
But solidarity that can only be achieved by convening a council of political leaders to draw the nation's red lines against the invaders.
Finally, I described the meeting of the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee as an obvious necessity, so that there is a detailed briefing of the political parties on what is happening."
