You forgot in GoW3 you can find a note in the underworld written by him cursing Kratos for not saving him when he could’ve.

The Boat Captain has been in every main line GOW. In 1 and 2 Kratos encounters him and kills him, in 3 you find a note in hades of the boat Captain lamenting about how Kartos could've saved him but didn't. In GOW 4 there's a treasure called the boat Captain's key, where in the description of the treasure map, a crew mate mentioned how he claimed the key after the Captain was eaten by the hydra. And in GOW Ragnarok, Kartos mentioned in his journal how he was shitty to the boat Captain. The Boat Captain may have been a joke character, but he lives on as a legend, like the cabbage merchant from ATLA.
