@Mega Meeple: A few things that I find helpful in a review: a) how difficult to learn/teach the game is; b) how well written and organized the rules are and c) your opinion on the value the game delivers for its retail price (if known).

@Mega Meeple - Three things I look for in a review, and a forth you should do regardless.
1) Show me the game - whether it be in a component drop, closes ups of key components, or just some screen shots while you talk about it - I want to see the game!
2) Give me a quick Summary of the theme and major mechanism(s) and if they work together. Let me know, in your opinion, if the game works.
3) Establish your personal preferences. Viewers that find they like the same games you do, will have a higher success rate of choosing games they like based on your approval.
4) Find what works best for YOU. Forget everything I said above, if it doesn't work for you. You are the one that has do this every week, so discover what works best for you. If something feels out of rhythm - change it, and try something different.

@Mega Meeple, I like Tom’s reviews the best. He gives a short intro, components review, quick run through how to play, then gives his opinion. He has four distinct sections but keeps each one pretty short. I would prefer a number scale at the end x/10 or something, but I like his the best.

I look at the weight rating for a game as well. It is important for me to be able to stack a lot of games on top of each other so I can fit them all on my shelves so I need games to have a pretty high weight rating.

I really enjoy Zee's style of reviewing. He gives a rundown of basic gameplay and then rates 5-6 different game categories and you really get a feel of the overall game quality and experience. I also really like when reviewers give a rundown of their personal preferences of games so it makes it easier for a consumer to match a similar game style preferences when listening to reviews. Mega Meeple: One of the first things to mention is the player count and whether it's co-operative or competitive.

Some people only want co-op. Some people want only competitive and some people need to know whether it can be played solo.

I am relatively new to board gaming and I always seem to be playing catch-up. I would love to hear not the latest and greatest game. But those few games that experienced gamers always bring back to the table. Those games that gives us years of great game play and memories.

@Mega Meeple, the game will usually say "Plays 1-x". However, sometimes, those numbers are *possible*, but not optimum. Make note of how many players gives you OPTIMAL game play.
