Rehearsing the pedal steel solo from 'Blue Bayou' on guitar.

One thing I find really helps you grow as a musician is learning parts that were played on other instruments. Sometimes I have to replicate keyboard parts, or in this case, for a gig tomorrow, the Pedal Steel part in "Blue Bayou." Often it's not possible to perfectly replicate parts from one instrument on another instrument as they have totally different capabilities, but it pushes you outside the normal box and standard routines. It teaches you and stretches your mind and abilities. This was only take 3 so there's still work and rehearsing to be done, but it's close! #musician #guitar #guitarist #rehearse #workinprogress #practice

Original recording by Linda Ronstadt. Written by Joe Melson and Roy Orbison.

Well done! Love these 25 second masterworks. Great lesson for those trying to learn how to make a guitar sound like a pedal steel guitar. Plus, what a great song to learn. Roy’s version in E and Linda’s version with pedal, steel lead in B.

Excellent! I find myself needing to learn this solo. Thanks for the video, it will be very helpful. I will try to TAB this out because at my age I forget things much faster than I learn them. LOL...

Perfect! Love Han Solo's blaster in the background too. My band does this in D, and I gotta figure something like this out.

Is this in standard tuning because whilst I can play parts of it, something is off. Open A perhaps?
Thanks
