I watched this after seeing Shawn Woods' vid. Since I had ten rusty decommissioned Victor snap traps piled up, I thought it would be a pretty good reuse of them. I soaked the parts in Evapo-rust for a few days to get them cleaned up. Instead of of long blocks, I made duelies. Five blocks with a trap at each end. Almond hot glued to the back for bait. Already caught one vole at the cabin. I'm converting the rest of my traps. Much less chance of misfires and non-clean kills.

I'm going to make your improved mouse trap. I thank you so much for showing me this better way of relieving my property of mice. I live next to an empty Barn pretty close neighbors and have had problems with mice the whole 4 years living here.

I like the design. I had ten victor snap traps that were rusty and were out of the game. I gave the kill bars, dogs, and springs a good soak in EvapoRust. I built the same same traps, but made them dualies with an almond hot glued to the backs for bait. Hopefully they get positive results when I get back up to the cabin. I'm curious what you make a profit with the stiffs.

Brilliant engineering job CT. The one question I could not find, or missed it is how large are the mouse holes? I know the rat size as you replied to that one. Mine is about an inch. Thank you.

Awesome video! I've just about finished building my first one, but I'm wondering if you have any advice on the type of thread (and knot) to use. I'm also curious about the "set screw" method of tying off the thread which you and some others have mentioned here. Thanks again for the education! :)

A good way to reuse my broken mousetraps, for rats what would be the distances from the front to the snare which for mice you say is 3/8th and then the snare to the string?

Hi, how about adding another snare for each one, like a double snare to catch the neck and body of the rat? Some rats are really strong and can escape if only part of the neck is caught, so maybe another snare for the body?

Make a single hole version as per this video.
Put the trap out and it worked a treat - it was only out a night + an afternoon.

I have made half a dozen of these. they're all worn out and i want to just buy a few. these used to be on amazon but I cannot find them now.... Trapperman, did you stop selling them?
