My uncle, Harvey Schmidt, was the composer of this song for The Fantastics. It premiered on May 3, 1960. It was the longest running off Broadway musical in history. He just passed away last night around got. Feb 26, 2018

My dad was always hard on me, pushing me to do good in school. A stark contrast to my mother, she would play this for me on piano. They both died December 16, 1991 in a "car accident". I hope they'd be proud of me and how I'm running the family business.

I’m 72. The Brothers 4 were one of my late older sister’s faves.

This song gives me such a feeling of nostalgia as I remember looking out the window of the family home and seeing the grass and trees slowly starting to change colors, and, of course, remembering it was time to go back to school for the year.

Jesus. Must have been about 1963, I took my girlfriend (later wife) to a wonderful college production of The Fantasticks. Two years later I was in the military. Thanks for this nice rendition!

This reminds me of being a kid in our family room, and my Dad would play this song on the record player. I wish I could go back to that time just for a moment, and hug my folks.
