Thank you. I would like to be a better tree diagnostician. This will help.

I have worked both in forestry and arboriculture, an unusual combination. So it was nice to have a speaker with a similar background, to relste to.

Thank you for such informative videos.
I’m asking in angst about a particular Prairie Fire Crabapple tree that I planted in my first granddaughters honor.
I’m located in the most southern tip of Ohio. The location has a very well draining soil that had been mulched over the last ten years. So, good amount of organic matter. The tree seems very structurally sound and health. I planted in the early spring of this year.
At some point in summer, I noticed it didn’t seam to have its regular amount of foliage and it looked like it was being eaten. I started checking it thoroughly. Never, have I spotted any critters. Never! It did form tiny crabapples and they are still on it. I’m baffled for two reasons. Is it possible I have a nighttime caterpillar? And, with I would guess, 80% loss of leaves, will it be able to come back? Any way I can know for sure or something extra I may do to help it? It doesn’t appear to be dying.
Thank you for any insight you may be able to offer.
