Generative artificial intelligence is all over the online shopping space — but has that actually made the experience better? The Verge reporter Mia Sato did a try-on and review of clothes by the AI fashion brand Finesse. And afterwards, she tested AI-powered e-commerce tools that generate images and product descriptions.

Be honest, do you even care if clothes are designed by AI? 👀 (no wrong answers)

I would feel scammed if there are 3 arms in the picture of the advertisement and I would not receive a 3 arm sweater after purchasing.

The line "companies in all different industries are jumping to find a use for AI" in the intro perfectly summarizes the problem with the current AI hype. AI tools are not created with a specific purpose in mind. They are created because we can, because it's the hot new tech that has investors frotting at the mouth. Nobody seems to be asking what the benefit is, why we should be doing any of this. These companies are just charging ahead blindfolded hoping that they'll run into a pile of gold rather than a spike pit.

Intel is proud to be a part of the creation of the Torment Nexus from the classic book Don’t Create the Torment Nexus

I guess fast fashion wasn't fast enough to fill the deserts with trash, thank god the AI is here to end all the sand

Oh good God, fast fashion was already out of control and a true cancer on society. And now it's going to get significantly worse. Can we, like, stop?

That Ebay feature is truly insane. Did no one think, like, at all? Generating a text like that is helpful to exactly no one. That's too long without actually saying anything. If I was scrolling through items a description like that would not be read.

the only AI i want is better edge, object detection and object removal in lightroom. i just want tools that can assist not so much outright create.

Intel sponsoring a video about janky AI seems very on brand

Oh I get it, this makes it even easier way to further flood the market with cheap low quality clothing and products. What a time to be alive.

Companies need to use buzz words like AI to please investors, even if they don't even know what to use it for yet

Awful on all accounts. AI could be used for prototyping, but they still need to size, fit and test on real people before selling.

Stealing from independent designers to sell poor quality items... AI-powered or not, let's not support this company.

If you want an alternative, Off/Script is much better.

Intel, such poor advertising. This video is a critique of Ai and Intel went ahead and decided, “hmm yes, let’s advertise the fact that we’re pushing Ai hard for everything”

This was good. I mean the content. Not the terribly made clothing

You cannot blame this on AI. This is all on the store.
AI only creates the mockup. It does not make it.

I appreciate that there is some semblance of buyer education in this video.

fast fashion is already a major problem and i will never support it, the use of AI will make it 100x worse whilst also committing plagiarism
