Started at a midsize carrier in my town and went to prime Inc as an IC for only a few months. I ended up going back to my previous carrier as they genuinely knew you and cared about you as a driver. The mega carriers see you as a number and nothing more, they give bad freight and make you sit for hours and even days just to get a load that won't cover the bills. I would recommend anyone new to the industry to look at smaller carriers so you don't fuel the mega corporations. You will be much happier as a driver.

YRC is no longer in business. They are gone. It’s sad to say that.

I work for old dominion for the last sixteen years, and several of the carriers that you had mentioned came over to old dominion. Old dominion is wanted a better company that I worked for.

I worked for 2 of them. They had a good way of nickeling and dimeing the drivers to death. That is how they got so big.

I worked for Viking Freight Systems before they got bought by FedEx and became Fed Ex Frt. Thats how I got my CDL. Unfortunately, I decided to go OTR and 25yrs later with the ELD mandate I went local. 5yrs later I have had no desire to go back OTR. I can't believe how much I make to do half the work I did driving OTR. Believe me that free travel ain't free.

Why don't you talk about companies that pay decent and have good benefits. Just because they're a big company doesn't mean they're the best. Some of those companies you mentioned have a high turnover rate.

This information is all well and good, but as a rookie, it provides almost nothing relevant to my future job search, as a new driver I would like to know the safety record of these companies. Pay rates. Driver satisfaction. Minimal requirements for a rookie driver to sign up.

Well now this is a interesting video and list, but I am surprised that ABF freight system didn't get a mention.
