The whitewash on the white oak that you preferred was a totally different color than you other two white oak samples. Those two looked like red oak. I'd love to see that whitewash wood stain on a redder piece of oak. Thanks for this video by the way!

Very informative and helpful. Thank you for testing on common board pine because I use this a lot. Also totally unintentional ASMR going on in this video lol.

What is a good top coat that will not turn yellow from sun shining on it?

Hi! What did you use to seal it? We are doing white oak cabinets and I’m looking for a solution to the yellow tone. I was thinking of a matte finish. What do you think??

Great video which helped me to narrow down color choices. Would you use oil or water based stain on white pine tongue and groove on porch ceiling? Thanks!

Very informative! Funny that you mentioned staining floating shelves white....I was thinking same thing. Have you done? How does it look? I’m thinking of white washing with paint over a stain but have not yet decided. Thanks!

Great video, thanks for taking the time. How many coats did you apply? Same number for all three stains? I think I like the whitewash (3rd option) the best also.

So nice. How do I get that white wash look on a Douglas fur wood?

I am trying to tone down the yellow color (as well, as some parts have pink--ah!) of a maple table that we are trying to make blonde. I don't want the farmhouse white wash look, but instead to just calm the yellow (and pink). We have wood bleached the table 3 times. Do you have any thoughts based on your experience? Thank you so much for this comparison video -- this is the stuff that is TRULY helpeful.

After doing a white stain, could you go over that with a colored stain? Possibly using the white wash to brighten and lighten the canvas for the colored stain? I have a darker/yellow tone piece of wood furniture that I’m trying to lighten up so I can use a colored stain. Colored stain as in a dark blue or violet.

wood conditioner can prevent your stain from getting a deep penetration. may require 2 coats of staining to achieve advertised color. instead you can get yourself a towel or sponge and wipe the wood with water. dont pour water directly on the wood. you just need enough the raise the grain of the wood. this is called water popping. allow the wood to dry completely then apply your stain. with white washed stain you will want to use a water based top coat as oil based top coats will yellow your wood.

Thank you for your video. How long do you have to wait before you put one of these white wash things on top of wood you have already stained with a darker color?

I am interested in restoring the white wash on previously white washed cabinets. I have sanded the cabinets and applied the whitewash stain but the result is inconsistent. In some areas the old stain persists and stands out in contrast to the new whitewash stain. Is there some additional wood preparation needed to remove the old stain?

Great video. Looking at using Rubio's monocoat or Osmo PolyX but appreciate this video as I look to stain a ton of white oak. One question that's off topic. Do you remember or know where you got your roman woven shades from?! They look great and looking for something similar.

What finish would you put on if you didn't want it to look like there was a finish, yet it had a little protections? I need this for an interior barn door and don't want to see any shine! Thanks!
