The U.S. needs to DO MORE here, as for manufacturing some of the goods we get from China, that has been our downfall. This is mainly because of corporate, banking, private equity, uber wealthy, and this neoliberal economics model, which was designed with only increasing wealth and power in mind through globalisation. But it does nothing for the majority of people in the world, and drove U.S. into decline. Same with oil, we ship way too much of ours offshore due to OPEC. Doing more here, also saves time and transport expense.

FYI: In 2017, China had 4.3 hospital beds per 1, 000 residents; and the US, 2.8 per 1, 000 or less (from Wikipedia). Now, amidst the COVID calamities, China builds hospitals in a week with as many as 6, 000 beds. Meanwhile, the US is famous for firing nurses and staff, closing hospitals and other such facilities.

Just a thought, Is this a response to the US's Sanctions on Russia? I mean the US is so dependent on other countries for resources, they may starve the US of critical resources that we've become overly dependent on. Could this be a cover?

I know people in Shenzhen. The public transport (Buses & Tube) is closed for a week. Supermarkets are still open. People go for a covid test each day to a local test centre, usually about a 5 min walk away. Uber taxis and cars are still on the road, people can still go to work, if they can get there. Many are staying at home because it would be too expensive or too difficult to travel to work. Some limited homeworking is done but not possible for most.
