My first time, I attacked Switzerland first and couldn’t understand why I wasn’t beating them💀

I feel like the people who started early on HOI4 find it a lot easier to learn than those who start more recently

Me playing HOI4 for the first time:
>Wants to invade czechoslovakia
>To make the invasion easier wants to invade austria first
>To make austria's invasion easier stage a civil war there
>Invades austria and gets nothing because its a civil war

I started as Germany on my first game and wondered why I can't just declare war on Poland and destroy everything. Once I figured out how to declare wars, Poland was already guaranteed and suddenly I was at war with everybody. I turned off the game after that and found a friend to teach me.

I got Feedback to thank for making my first ever game of Hoi4 a partial world conquest. I played on Ironman because IDK and beat the Soviets. Naval was too complex at the time for me so no victory over allies was achieved, though.

First time I played hoi4 I picked Germany, instantly started to declare war on Poland and wondered why I lost to the Poles in 1936

In my first game, I didn't want to play a major as I thought it would be hard having to go into all these wars and figure everything out on the fly. So instead, I figured I would play a minor nation to learn and familiarize myself with the game and UI. I picked Luxembourg...

I remember in my first germany game i immediately justified on Denmark and conquered it in like 6 months... But then i got absolutely destroyed by both the Netherlands and Luxembourg, was fun tho

In my first playthrough I played as germany,
> Justified and declared war on netherlands
> I didn’t know about air so as you can guess, red air
> Didn’t know about focuses so I started war without remilitarizing Rhineland
> Justifying on Belgium, Luxemburg, Poland, Austria at the same time
> Netherlands joined Allies
> Naval invaded
> Ragequitted and deleted the game
> Downloaded 3 days later and learned the game by doing the same thing again, again, again and again

My first playthrough was as Japan, defeated China in 43, left everything unrepaired and lost tons of equipment to attrition.
Then I stopped there, had no industry to compete against the Allies.

LMAO this represented my first ever game so accurately, as Germany i just rammed my head into the Maginot line at 5 speed until like 1943

I started as the US and attacked canada "hoping" the british won't intervene and I was running on fuckin 1 speed and I was literally microing my divisions one by one because I didn't play the tutorial and didn't know what a general is and I didn't even know my navy got obliterated by the british and didn't even use any airforce lol
And I was playing in 1936 and I didn't even know you could deploy divisions yourself i thought it's from the base game

I found HoI4 really easy to learn, to be honest. I got good at singleplayer in no time. After all, go ahead! Macau my day!

I remember the first time that i played, i picked Brazil my native country and just start to move all my soldiers to every border cuz when i saw that i had no intel from the armys in the border i thought that they would invade me any time. I made full military industries, and i remember that when i started to play hoi4 if u attacked a country with the guaranteed thing they would insta declare war at you because they would loose "Union" if they didn't do shit, which today is the "Stability" thing, but i was in South America and USA have everyone guaranteed and then when i declared war at Uruguay the USA joined and invaded me, them i started to just use cheats and fuck around and i put like man power (i didn't know how to use) and annex all america. And then my friend saw me playing and liked the game, but """i now knew it how to play it"""", and i was the friend who teach him, and he picked Brazil, I picked USA and helped him conquer the entire South America. (SORRY FOR BAD ENGLISH)

I played hearts of iron 2 so playing hoi 4 was really easy
The complexity between the games js about the same but hoi4 UI is so much better which makes it so easy to understand

the first time I tried to go historical and Germany is so powerful that even with my weak divisions and bad industry I managed to defeat France and after several attempts naval invade the UK, after that the Soviets weren't that hard to conquer but the US was like the final boss, by 1947 they had more and better troops than me, it was hard as hell but fun at the end
