Lyrics:

[Verse 1]
Lynyrd Skynyrd Jones
Spelled with all 4 y's
Was born in 70-something
Between "Sweet Home" & "You Got That Right"
His mama met his daddy
At a Tallahassee show
But just like Tuesday
Daddy wound up gone on down the road

[Chorus]
Lynyrd Skynyrd Jones
Hailed from Gadsden, Alabama
Born to carry on
Who his mama was a fan of
Don’t ask me no questions
And I won’t tell you no lies
That’s what she always told him
Right up till the day she died

[Verse 2]
Lynyrd wasn't black or white
He was somewhere in between
Throw in abandoned and confused
And you get the blues when you’re just 13
Well he found his salvation in a pawn shop bought guitar
You can't teach that kind of pickin’
It’s got to come right from your heart

[Chorus]
Lynyrd Skynyrd Jones
Hailed from Gadsdеn, Alabama
Born to carry on
Who his mama was a fan of
Don’t ask me no questions
And I won’t tell you no liеs
That’s what she always told him
Right up till the day she died

[Verse 3]
When Lynyrd Skynyrd Jones’
Mama passed away
A dressed in all black, black man
Stood up in the back to say
Been thinking about your mama
Since that Tallahassee show
Yeah son, I am your daddy
And my name is Curtis Lowe
Oh, oh-oh-oh
Oh, oh-oh-oh

Hes one of the very few keeping it real still and refusing the hip hop combo in his music. Bravo sir on another good song 👏👏🤟

Always been a huge fan of EC and This song hit Me like a damn brick.

I’m mixed, born in the 70’s, a singer/musician whose salvation lies in music, a LS fan and while I knew my father... I didn’t have a relationship with him.
I feel every damn word in this song! 😭😭😭

My son introduced me to this today. He hadn't heard it either. Driving down an icy road is not where you want to be when a tribute to greatness such as this comes before you. Thank you Mr Church!!!

I really like this song. My email is Curtis Lowe and I have been a Skynyrd fan all my life. My name is Curtis even better I was adopted at birth so it makes the song even more ironic. Curtis Loew is how the band spelled the song. I read it was a homage to Leon's uncle.

Wait a minute! Eric, What kind of song is this? Are you singing about Lynnyrd Skynrd or George Jones? I'm not sure.
