How To Change Default Search Engine
Launch Opera GX browser
Go to 'Settings'
Scroll down to the 'Search Engine' heading
Choose your preferred search engine

I have the problem that I want either Ecosia or Oceanhero as my default search engines, but it won't let me do that. Any idea how I can set them as my default search engines?

In some countries, it inly lets you use local search engines, so you can't even set it as Google. Hope they fix it soon, cuz I really like opera gx, but this ruins it.

After 20 years of usage Im ditching this browser. Became very unoptimised on windows, random stutters and lag, the text I type is even lagging on a 16 core device... but the worst is this forced search engine list. I do not want to use ANY search engine, I can just go to search website and search for things that way, but Also that list is just too mainstream. Opera wants to be mainstream browser? ok! Good luck taking new users from chrome or safari while old loyal users of opera are abandoning this software because of dependency from big corporations

To switch to google. All first is you need to go to Apps & Feature and go find Opera GX then delete it may show uninstall menu, but it has reinstall thing so and do you see button that says Delete My opera Data? It forces that to switch into Google Chrome. I am sure it may work or not.

If it doesnt work go to setting then scroll down then advanced then scroll to the bottom and reset to default and its fixed
