Fun fact: until a few years ago (when I did the research) Tories increased the national debt at twice the rate of Liberals per year in power since Diefenbaker.

And if Alberta had adopted a Norwegian model for its oil wealth instead of one based on pure greed, it wouldn't be one price drop away from bankruptcy.

So please, keep trying to blame anything but greed and sociopathy and the politicians who enable that behaviour for various issues. It's comedy gold.

Canada does NOT have a generous welfare state but an unfair one . In Germany the unemployment pays 85% of the person's wage . In Canada I get about 15% . And the list can go on and on and on .

If Alberta, by itself, was its own Country. It would be top 40 in the world based on GDP.
ALSASKATOBA would easily be in the top 10 GDP in the world. Saskatchewan has the purist and largest deposits of Uranium and Manitoba has access to enormous amounts of fresh and salt water.

When these three Provinces become one, they will become a World Power House, in every sense of the term.

When solar and batteries progress to the point that oil is no longer profitable the American companies that own the tar sands will walk away from them leaving Canadian taxpayers to clean up the mess.
There are tailings ponds that are over miles long and even though industry is supposed to have a fund there is only a few billion in it when even industry admits the low estimations to clean it all is 250 billion . That was from the industry.
Oh and Norway with nearly the same population as Alberta has a trillion dollar wealth fund for it's citizens, Alberta has debt and propaganda . Oh and in case you didn't notice there is only one party in Canada .... the Corporate party.
They all have the same policies, tax breaks for corporations so when they retire they can go sit on corporate boards and double their incomes.
Oh and it takes 2 barrels of water to get one barrel of tar sands oil and corporations get the water for free then dump it in the tailings ponds i mentioned before .
How much do you pay for a bottle of water again ?
They get billions of gallons a year for free.
