In the question before the last one, the point (1, 1, 1) doesn't satisfy the equation of the multivariable function. How did we take the derivative of that if the point was not on the surface?

Professor, I have a question about the definition of directional derivative. I don't know why it is h ->0+ in the limit. I also checked other sources but they do not have the positive sign. Appreciate your help!
