SCP Orientation is an archive of files of the SCP Foundation.

Today we will be studying Item number SCP-384: Let Her In, Object class: Safe.

SCP-384 has a variable form; any door installed in the same building as it can spontaneously take on its properties. Two conditions must be met for SCP-384's effects to begin: it must be opened by a human being and must be closed by a human being while being unobserved by any possible means of observation, cameras and other electronic devices included.

If these conditions are met, liquid tar will begin to flow out from under SCP-384 and fill the room that it currently occupies. Once the process is complete all open doors in the affected room will close and automatically lock.

After covering the room, the person inside the room can talk with a female voice who claims to be a missing girl (SCP-384-1). After a period of time, the voice will try to convince the person to open the door. Individuals who attempt to open SCP-384 are encompassed by an abrupt explosion of [DATA EXPUNGED]

My guess is that assistant C was trying to test the theory that observation effects the SCP and was trying to make contact with SCP-384-1 by opening SCP-384 completely unobserved. I guess he figured the other reasurcher wouldn't go for the idea so that he would have to try it on his own.

This seems more Euclid than Safe… safe isn’t harmless, but it means if you stick it in a box it’ll stay in the box with or without observation.

Hmmm...

All I can surmise is SCP-303 and that Keter Tar Baby... If 303 were here, 384-1 could be neutralized via 303... Or something else entirely... 005 and the Blue Key could help too... If 384 was anywhere near 038, that could be catastrophic...

Hmm--I wonder if any research has been done looking for a connections between SCP-384 and SCP-087. Notably, both SCPs seem to involve extradimensional space, and a lost child (who cannot be heard outside the SCP's area of influence) whose presence encourages observers to try and "rescue" them--usually to their detriment.

I am *confused*, and a skim of the wiki suggests I'm not the only one, and some of those appear to be veterans/people who know what they're doing.
Let who in? Where? What *is* the SCP? It's not the door, it manifests on a door. Is it an item?
What exactly is happening here? Interviewer walks into CU77, closes the door while nobody is looking, tar (it doesn't say hot, but I don't think it would be liquid at room temperature, *but* it is explicitly ordinary) fills the room and coats the walls to 3cm, door is locked, you chat periodically for 12 minutes, done.
Lastly, whatever menace or intent the original author was trying to suggest just... isn't there.

Absolutely not the channel's fault, you get a well-earned like.
