Yes!- You can see this galaxy with a small telescope, under dark skies, above Leo the Lion's back. It is between the stars Zosma ( Delta Leo) and Algeiba ( Gamma Leo) - at the apex of a triangle with them. In the video you notice a 9th magnitude double star - you will also see this thru your telescope.

Amazing stuff; when we look up at the stars we still feel the wonder that the first men felt.

Does spiral galaxies have a more chance of containing life forms more than other type galaxies

Isn't it interesting?! Galaxies so big that takes million years for light to travel from one side to the other side, but still they follow the same simple rule when water is being drained from the bath tub at the end it forms the same spiral that galaxies form 1:16

I have always wondered, some galactical structures remind me of dipole in external electrical field: the torque that rotates them… I might be wrong, but this model could provide some clues in understanding dark matter

No black hole centre?

Why aren´t we saying 20 million light-years ago it looked like this... - but instead use a measurement for distances that a human is not capable of reaching?

I think Erik's trying to point out that due to the great distance, we are actually seeing it not just 20 million light years away but also in the past. I agree that saying 20 light years into the past might make it more, not understandable but easier to take in, less abstract I suppose. LOL, I can remember as a kid trying with all my willpower to grasp the totality of infinity. That was before I knew we just cannot. I also don't see in infrared, but that never bothered me as much as no ending to the space around us.... ...and if we are on a membrane... ...in a multiverse... ...and each membrane is infinite... *grin* I'll probably get a headache from this ten headed train of thought! :p
