The announcement has finally come in and Mattieu Blazy will usher in CHANEL 2025, as the new artistic director. The biggest job in luxury fashion has been filled after months of speculation and the biggest creative directors' names were thrown around, from Hedi Slimane and Sarah Burton, to Marc Jacobs and Simon Porte Jacquemus. In this video I'll be breaking down WHY I think Blazy got this job, what this means for Bottega Veneta (and who will be taking over) and what I hope that Blazy will bring to Chanel in 2025...ENJOY!

Bottega Venetta is one of the few Major Lux Brands that I would currently still consider buying because of their QUALITY so if he can bring that back along with the fun and wonder that was Chanel under Karl... then happy days are ahead. Once again QUALITY needs to be at the TOP OF THE LIST especially at the prices that they are demanding for their customers.

Love that you're wearing your vintage Chanel jacket for this vid!!❤

I was really hoping for Thom Browne for this. I think he has a style, vision and tailoring instinct that would have worked well, but I love this conversation. Great, in-depth video.

I was really rooting for Marc to get this but I am happy it was Blazy. Personally I didn't think Jacquemus was strong enough yet for this role

I knew nothing about these brands other than their famous products & their logos, but now I know about their styles/looks & these designers. All thanks to watching your videos !

I WANT THE CREATIVITY OF THE 90S AND EARLY 2000S

Mattew Blazy seems to be that guy who has the humility to ask and learn and the creativity to do new things. And, he's conscious that he's creating more than just clothes. So, happy for Chanel, sad for Bottega Veneta.

I much preferred Bottega Veneta under Thomas Maier. That’s when Bottega truly was a «if you know you know» brand. The designs were much more elevated.

Congrats! Smart to wait for what you really wanted. I agree if you prefer a more muted green than vert vertigo is too much

Thanks for this rundown, Cassie. I am so excited for Blazy! He gave us a great range of colors at Bottega too. On a sad note, I had grown my actual nails out almost as long as yours, Cassie, and one broke today, so I am requesting privacy at this difficult time.

I'm happy for him. He is great, talented and french (it may help).
Btw, Karl never oversaw everything at Chanel. There was another creative director, Jacques Helleu who handled the image for others activities except fashion. There was a perfumer and and a duo doing the beauty.
But Karl had so much aura that they let him be the face of everything. Chanel beauty and Jewelry/Watches are run as separate departments since the mid 70's.

Sadly quality and craftsmanship are not in the hand of CD. Chanel’s declining quality is the reason why virginie left chanel. She’s tired of the CEO’s cutting corners strategy and putting 24/7 workload to the artisans. Chanel wont change until they change their CEO. They will only change their image with blazy.

Thanks for the overview of the leading candidates for the Chanel job. Good luck to Blazy. I’m shocked that the purported salary of $5M is a fraction of the rate paid to other Creative Directors, especially with rising prices at Chanel and declining quality.😕
