I was initially disappointed and upset with him. After seeing the conversation with his parents and watching the reunion, I understood fully what scared him. He was scared and unfortunately, the cost was AD’s heart. His emotions on the reunion, I felt that. I understood that a black man is expressing his fears and I was too angry to receive it. My feeling is that Clay was not genuine about his feelings for AD. Several times he admired her body yet never told her she was pretty. And he talks way too much as if he was trying to convince himself or AD that he had genuine feelings for her.
