Katsuya didn't get to see her little girl grow up and become a lady in full rule but she always watches over her from above and Kyoko ended up so tragically that you can cry that their orphaned daughter can still smile.

I know the age gap is crazy and she was a minor but you can deny about their love. He really loved her and was responsible too. It’s so heartbreaking that he passed away so soon, didn’t even get to see his little girl grow up but he did gave all his love towards Tohru when she’s a baby. I love their love story, it’s just wholesome

I have seen fruit basket whole anime. It's such a sad anime even through they become happy in the end. It is a movie that involves a lot of people's lives and those people after suffering a lot achieve their happiness. 😣😣

Fruits basket with all the seasons and this movie is literally the most precious perfect wholesome masterpiece I've ever seen in my life, there can't be another one like this ever, it has the most tragic beginnings with the saddest twists a rollercoaster of emotions involving love, family, hate, friendship, jealousy, obsession, self-hate, abuse, violence, self-harm, sacrifice, guilt, regrets, atonement, forgiveness and finally freedom and happiness, it would literally drive you to the point of wanting to get Isekaid to kill the most hated character but then you'd realise that villains are not born but made and it gives them their chance for happiness that they never experienced, or you'd wanna get Isekaid to hug all the hurt ones cause the pain is really unmeasurable, I relate most to Ren and Kyoko that it makes my heart ache and I could swear that every single one out there relates to at least one of the characters, I'm crying just by writing this comment, guys go watch it, it's more than any other anime worth your time😭😭😭

Like at the time when she went through this yes she was a bad/neglectful mom, but then you realize it gives you back story he was the only one that cared about her and she lost him. She eventually came around obviously but I couldn't be mad at her for this when you see what her backstory was with her parents I forgave her. I couldn't be upset with her mom at all, I felt so sorry when she lost him

Hear me out: I am 35 years old, I read this manga in in HS and early college. So obviously the manga’s I was reading had crazy age gaps. This generation calls him a “groomer”. But let’s be real, he saved her and helped her have a better life. Can we just admit this and enjoy the series?

I honestly dont see why there's controversy around this anime. She was young yes and he is older but I think most people that are complaining are in their teens or something. Some people think 1-2 years age gap is a lot lol. It's weirder to me to think anything less than 10 is a big age gap. Physical age doesnt equal mental age. Plenty thats 30+ still acts, thinks like a child thats totally immature. I think he was a good guy, genuinely love and cared for her, he changed and improved her life. Also she's old enough to think for herself she's like almost adult. She was 16? 17?. People who don't continue high school is already out and working in society by that age.

I loved this couple, even with the age gap. When Katsuya passed away I broke down into tears with Kyoko. This video is so beautiful how it captures their relationship.
