Originally built after a huge fire and a new Plan, the houses were built for 4 Noble Families (And still have their names), but when his Palace also burned down (The present Christiansborg), the King bought those and never moved out again, though there is room in Christiansborg.

Fun fact … The little mermaid has a sibling.😅 On the waterfront of Osaka, Japan, next to the Aquarium, is a statue exactly the same as the one in Copenhagen. It was donated by the Carlsberg Foundation in 1995. And was made by the same company that made the original version in 1913.
