I’ve been watching YouTube tutorials about reggae drumming. Many teach by breaking down the 3 fundamental categories of reggae drumming and showing how to recreate and embelish them. They might be called TMI or wonky to non-drummers. But another type of tutorial simply demonstrate how drummers employ these techniques in context, i.e. with a band playing one song. The attached video is an outstanding example of the latter category. It blew me away, the same reaction most other folks express in the comments. This performance is so fine that parts of even gave me goosebumps. YMMV, but I enthusiastically recommend listening closely to experience the ‘feel’, the virtual state of grace this drummer achieves as he does his thing. Whole lotta skankin’ goin’ on!! 😍🤩
