Skoda Octavia RS 2025 review Australia

Показать описание

The Skoda Octavia RS is now powerful and better equipped than ever, and you can still get it as a liftback /sedan / hatch, and as a wagon (for $1500 more!).

And speaking of prices, they're way up compared to before, because the brand has added a heap of new gear that was previously optional...

So is it still the best value family car for enthusiastic mum and dad drivers?

Bought a wagon in enZed last month in race blue. Looks fantastic with the aero covers off and is joy to drive. I tried more expensive cars but the Skoda just has a wonderful feel. You sit low and snug in the ultra comfy seats, the interior finish is tasteful and of good quality and the extra power and revised DSG tuning gives it strong performance and a it more if a top end rush than the 180kW model. Yes you can get the wheels spinning if you have no throttle control but the tricky VAQ electronically controlled diff gives it amazing drive out of the turns for such a powerful front drive car. The final bonus is the sports exhaust with no fake sound actuator. Oh and you can get it actual real colours rather than various shades of depression like so many cars today. Even the perennial concerns about longer term reliability of VAG products is countered by the long warranty period (just 5 years here but 7 if you’re totally Oz). Only reason not to consider one if you like a good steer is badge snobbery. Are you really that shallow?

The RS is a smarter and more useful version of a GTi. Always had great experience with our Skoda dealership for servicing. When I am asked about my MY20 RS I tell people it is a smarter man’s Volkswagen. Just my opinion. I am tossing up between the new RS and the yet to be released Superb Sportline. I removed the P Zeros after 60, 000km and put on a set of Kumho PS91s…..so much quieter than the Pirellis. There are definitely cheaper alternatives, but they feel cheaper as well.

I’ve got a 2019 RS245 and owned it since 2022 - it’s been such a fun car to drive and own. $85 a tank (95/98) and getting 600kms+ to a tank. Servicing has been ok, averaging $400-$500 a service. I opted out of the service package cause it’s a big hit to the pocket upfront and might not own the vehicle by the end of it.

Haven’t had any issues with the car and would absolutely upgrade to a newer version but at $60k + for a 25 model, picking up a 23/24 model second hand with some warranty and pocket the rest would be the way to go.

Test driving the wagon RS tomorrow. Looking forward to it.

Lots of clever feature from Skoda. Checked out both wagon and liftback on the previous model, and I will take them both!

Really like it. Even more for the wagon which looks much sharper to my eyes.

Looks like you’re in my home town of Bendigo Matt! I’m surprised how much the Octavia has increased in price! Obviously it’s been upgraded engine wise & extras but I bought my Superb Sportline 4WD 206kw for less than this. Ok it was 2017, but these have gone nuts! A sign of the times. The wagon still looks the goods
Da though.😎👍🏼

Who the fuck decided that a driver monitoring camera was wanted or necessary on a car. Glad this doesn’t have it! Really puts me off buying anything new.

The lack of separate climate controls would be a concern for me. Not everyone is in their 30's with 20-20 vision. Tactile controls are so much more easier and safer.

I have a ceratoGT. Thinking about one of these. Laughed at how excited you were at being about to just turn off lane assist at the touch of a button..

If it was AWD $65K would be fine, but FWD with all that power... meh. I wouldnt buy a Civic R either if i had the spare dosh.

Servicing is fairly pricey, fit & finish look good... I guess Skoda could have offered a few more torques....

We've got an MY20 RS Wagon and while we love almost everything about it, one thing holding me back from upgrading to this MY25 is the consistent road noise - it's almost unbearable at high speeds along country highways. If you never leave town, this car is pretty much perfect, but definitely have a think if you travel on rough roads often.

I have a 2017 full poverty spec Octavia wagon… for me I’d take the wagon here again for sure if it was more reasonably priced. Knock 6 or 8k off the asking price and then it’s realistic in my opinion 🤷‍♂️

I would buy this if it was available in AWD. I suspect they don't release it in AWD in Australia to make a point of difference to the superb, which is a shame...
