Are the optical flaws on this new lens a dealbreaker or is it still a value at $125?

I love this video - it is much better than the one I will do next week.

Picked up the TTArtisan 35mm Mark II for its affordability, but I’m blown away by the quality. The compact design is ideal for travel, and the metal finish feels so premium. Took it out for some everyday portraits and couldn’t be happier!

I have to say, I love how compact it is without feeling plasticky like some budget lenses. It’s been great on my X-T5 for everyday carry.

Arthur thank you for the angle you're showing. It's the most effective way to push Sony to make some new APSC lenses. This content is really fair and showcases how good those lenses have gotten in an honest and not "all hype" way. It has its flaws as you show. You are without a doubt one of the if not the most reputable Sony APSC channel and your voice counts a lot. Keep up the good work. Gerald complaining about firmware alongside with other creators of great reputation like Philipp Bloom pushed Sony to make new firmware that was lacking on top of the line cameras. Lets push Sony to update those lenses.

OMG the viltrox is like a too-good-to-be-true lens. I would appreciate if you make a long-term review of its durability, auto focus, ... in the future (6 months or 9 months later). We need to make sure that its quality stays the same after long time, because the low price is really suspected. Take care Arthur.

This lens has quickly become my go-to. The TTArtisan 35mm Mark II is a dream to carry around because of its tiny size. Plus, the metal body looks so sleek on my camera. Portraits are sharp, and the price is unbeatable!

It’s great to see so many good third-party lenses now. TTArtisan 35mm is definitely one of the best budget choices!

Just ordered the 35mm Viltrox, curious to see how it performs on my a6400! Glad I held back on the Sony. Thanks for helping inform my shopping!

This series of TTArtisan lenses are, to me, the modern vintage lenses.

To me they really nail the character and love the build quality. Go super great with Fuji X-T cameras.

Cat-whisperer lens! Silent operation doesn't spook nervous rescues. f/1.8 separates fur details from busy backgrounds. Survived nose prints and paw swipes. Best investment since the feather toy!

I got the Viltrox 56mm f1.7 and now the 35mm f1.7. in 3 days the 25mm f1.7 should be release. Just unbeatable these 3 lenses

Awesome and thorough review!!
Great that there is an even cheaper and still decent APS-C prime alternative with AF, if you want to go even more compact or lower in price than Viltrox 35mm f1.7. 👍

Bad autofocus on some sony cameras.
a6700 - good autofocus
zv-e10 - In photo mode it works slowly. In video mode it jumps constantly.

I own the Sony 35mm. Chromatic aberration is bad on my lens. Otherwise performs well and is sharp enough for me. But I would probably buy the Viltrox 35mm now based on your review.

The bokeh on this lens is surprisingly smooth and creamy, especially at wider apertures.

The front lens cap does not have a usb port 😅

I bought one but I eventually returned it. It is quite sharp and the chromatic aberration is minimal, but the vignetting is still very awful just like their manual 35mm f1.4 lens (I had one few years ago). Even when the aperture is closed to f/5.6 the vignetting is still noticable. Even worse their official Lightroom correction file, cannot fix the vignetting effectively according to the photo's aperture info. It is basically a filter that put on a circular gradient mask that has fixed parameters, and increases a fixed amount of exposure of the photo. Therefore if you shoot at a small aperture, for example, f/8, and enable the correction, you will find the edge of the photo is overcorrected and is actually brighter than the center.

That is an insane value for a prime lens.
