Here is the real reason: Having hundreds of ships phase in and out of existence several times a second isn't a battle, it's a seizure.

Probably because the nav-computer strain, as well as ships moving around to much, and potentially getting in the way of the jump, leading to a messy death for all involved

I always thought jumps were like flourescent light bulbs which may take 33 watts to start but 3 to run, so it isn't distance thats the problem but starting them in the first place.

#AskEcks How the Sequels destroyed Hyperspace…

Besides the Hyperspace Ram, there's the whole sequence with the Millennium Falcon doing Hyperspace skipping and also being tracked through it.

Question can also be framed as
#AskEcks How does Hyperspace skipping work?

What happened to General Rieekan after the Battle of Hoth?

I just want to say this: Eck, you are a great content-creator in my opinion. You have taught me so much about Star Wars space combat, and you are my top favorite Star Wars YouTuber, surpassing MetaNerdz. I didn't even know about the whole bit about Marvel stealing fan-art until I watched your videos on the subject, and I greatly appreciate that. I hope you continue to grow on this platform and try new things content-wise, like more ship-breakdowns, or maybe more things like Battle of The Dreadnoughts.

Because the Holdo Maneuver is more efficient...

I'll see myself out.

What happened to the TIE Striker? Why didn’t the Empire or New Republic have more air superiority fighters?

Honestly, the “explanations” now days are just petty excuses for the filmmakers mistakes.

Since I was a kid I would imagine the Halo universe and the Star Wars Universe together. I thought of Spartan Jedi and Brute copilots, etc. I would love the video idea you suggested! Even a series of them! You would be the perfect guy to do it!

Microjumps make large capital ships worthless if they dont have interdictor tech. Its poorly thought out.

I’ve always wondered this! Thank you for doing a video on it Eck!

Interestingly.... The Thrawn Pincer is basically what they do in EVE Online with bubbles and interdictor cruisers.

Good question, why they don't just hyperspace some rocky bois in each other and keep on fighting with their big ships?
Wait...

I'm surprised to hear that. In the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine episode "By Inferno's Light, " The USS Defiant had to do a short warp jump from Deep Space Nine to Bajor's star. Keep in mind, in "The Motion Picture, " it is mentioned that Starfleet ships tend to avoid using warp speed while in a solar system.

"What if the Rebel Alliance had assistance from Halo's USMC?" would certainly be a video worth puzzling over.

Back in my day, going into hyperspace was jumping to lightspeed. We just had black star fields, which was the style at the time. Not those fancy pansy blue tunnels you kids have today.

I’ve often thought that in TLJ, the Holdo maneuver could of easily been explained away in movie by putting in a scene that said active hyperspace tracking makes you vulnerable to hyperspace collisions. That new tech is what allows a new retaliation tactic. It also give a disadvantage for active tracking. If only TLJ had a better writer basically...

This is something I have thought a bit about, and I think microjumps is part of the Chiss naval doctrine, with how Thrawn favour precision jumps even when he is running the Empire. Quite neat little subtext in Outbound Flight I must say.
