Okay, I'm confused by the comments. Cause I see a lot of comments about how the dogs get uncomfortable, but a few years ago got an implant in my arm (It got taken out tho). It was right under my skin, but I could  barely feel a thing. Is it the same for the doggos? Cuz I'm planning on getting a dog in a few years and I need to know.

Some dogs do develop tumors from the chip. Just an fyi not mentioned in this propaganda video.

Dont get me wrong I love the IDEA of micro chips and my last 3 dogs had them ...2 put in by the rescue organization we adopted from and one dog we rescued that someone tied to a tree and abandoned. Make no mistake it HAS TO BE painful! It is a HUGE needle even larger than the ones for blood donation or an IV ....those DO hurt ....not a huge thing but I just despise them assuring people it is "painless" ....yeah right! Let me stick it the neck of EVERY person claiming that and watch their grimace! But the pain is a very small factor and IF everything else was cool it would be worth it so long as we dont LIE about it....BUT....

BUT the fact is that a WHOLE LOT of dogs HAVE grown tumors around the chips ...you would think "Oh well the vet just pops it out" but many dogs it was much more complicated even costing many thousands of dollars in complications....AND a bunch of dogs DIED ...and THAT is a fact ....Now they have of course tested the chips on mice and rats ....and guess what? Some of the studies have show from I think 4 to 10 % chance of cancer or tumors! THAT is a HELL of a crap shoot to take with my best friend!

Our latest canine guest, a very handsome super smart German Shepherd that goes by the name of Bono has a round lump right in the area they put chips in ....pretty sure he has to have a chip...of course he does. I'm afraid to adopt him now! A vet will probably biopsy it but not prove if the chip is involved or not unless it needs removed....I WAS a fan of these things but now this and what I read about them with the mice studies etc does not give me the warm fuzzies AT ALL

Anyone else here had problems? BTW everything I read the manufacturers ALWAYS claim the tumor or cancer has nothing to do with the chip ..."just a coinky dink it is in the same place" And so none of the cases are tallied as being caused by the chip...still want one in your pal?

these things are known to cause cancer. they 'migrate' or are rejected by the animal's body. they can cause a LOT of other health problems, too. :(
