What could a Francisco Lindor extension cost the Mets? | New York Mets | SNY

SNY's Jim Duquette breaks down what it could cost to sign shortstop Francisco Lindor to an extension. Duquette recommends getting a deal done before Opening Day so it doesn't linger but Lindor could get a Mookie Betts or Manny Machado type contract for 10+ years, $300+ million.

Andy Martino feels the Mets traded for one year of Lindor but that doesn't rule out the possibility of an extension while Steve Gelbs believes differently by thinking the Mets already have an extension for Lindor in mind.

On Baseball Night in New York, host Doug Williams is joined by a cast of leading New York baseball writers and other experts to discuss the latest off-season news involving the New York Mets, Yankees, and key division rivals.

I can’t wait for the day that Andy Martino doesn’t cover the Mets anymore

There is no way they are going to let him go. Lindor is a game changer. Plus the energy he brings to the clubhouse. Alderson is a great GM. He and Cohen will do everything in their power to lock him down for the rest of his career. I can’t see Lindor not having a great time playing in New York.

Lmao Andy’s such a bitter Yankees fan, trying to write the narrative that the Yanks can still get him. Sandy should be fired if they traded for one year of Lindor

This is like 2005 when the Mets brought in Beltran and Pedro...only better!

Andy is the worst, We didn’t trade for him for one year... They’re going to give him money and the years he wants

Martino is a Yankees fan, that’s why he never has anything good to say about the Mets, and always hopes for the worst.

10/$300 for Lindor? He will get more than that

If he's smart he won't sign an extension and he'll go to free agency after the season.

Uncle Steve has the money to make it work, I’m not worried about the price tag. The Mets will never again lose a player to money, only if they are not a good fit.

I’m a Mets fan but Mookie Betts is a better player

they better sign Lindor long term after what they gave up for him.

Hes young so Id give him two options.. 12 years 300m with optout clause after 6 years 200m or 8 years 250m.. both more than fair for both sides imo. To use the machado deal as a reference would be ridiculous for the Mets and I love this trade and Lindor as a player but hes not a top 3 player. More in the top 5-10

Mans really said Betts was better than trout 😭✋

Before the season and give him between 250-300 million 9 year deal with a 10 year team option.
