from a friends post today: "My daughter's away at school, and a classmate
was hassling her about voting third party. He gave her the usual line,
"A third party vote is a vote for Trump." My daughter said, "Maybe, but a
vote for Hillary is definitely a vote for Hillary." Case closed."

Voting for a third party also sends the message that if you do not behave and pass laws that benefit the people. The next election even more people will vote third party and you may not win.

I heard a familiar voice saying: "A third party vote is great, believe me! Nobody has more respect for third party than I do!"

The difference between Cenk and Jimmy is very simple: Cenk understands politics

A third party vote is never a wasted vote, it's a way to communicate that you want a better system and a better choice of candidates. People have to stop thinking about voting for the winner, and start voting for people and policies that you actually believe in. Ultimately, that's the way to get change… but that's the long game, and most people are too short sighted (or too vain) to want to play it.

The idea of voting third party in this system will never cease to amaze me. The system says to you "Obey! You must vote for one of two parties!" And you say "Screw you! I'm not going to let you tell me what to do." So the system says "Fine, rebel by casting a vote for one of these parties that we hamstring at the state level, none of whom can ever realistically win." And you respond with "Fine! I will rebel along the permitted route allowed to me by you, the oppressive system."

Think about it: even when you win a seat further down the ticket, 3rd party candidates basically have to ally with one of the major parties to get committee assignments and to get anything done. They are the weak concession granted to you, the rebel who chooses to rebel in a system-friendly way, so that you don't do the one thing that would really turn their whole world upside down: get organized behind one of the two major parties, infect it like a virus, and take that shit over.

Primary at the local level where you get to appeal to actual people, and then let the party mentality of the broader electorate sweep your people into power at the national level. Watch as the dinosaurs notice that suddenly, it's not Republican challengers that they need to worry about but Democratic challengers speaking to the needs of the people, and watch them throw themselves to the left in order to try and save their jobs. Barney Frank is now a banking shill, but he was right when he said (and I'm paraphrasing) that if you've got donors on one hand, and an active voter base with a clear preference on the other, you go with the voters because they're the ones that you need to get out and re-elect you. It's all about self-interest. In the absence of danger to their seats, it is in their self-interest to take money and do favors so that they can beat Republicans in general elections. So up the danger. Throw some of them out of office at the primary level. Let the others fear it. You'll be surprised how progressive these people can be when it looks like their job is on the line.

It's never a wasted vote. Vote for whose policies best suit you, and do not settle for less.

Third party votes are wasted votes is just Republican and Democrat propaganda.

She will say "I have political capital and I'm going to spend it." Vote for who you want to be president. A vote for Jill is a vote for Jill. Remember Abe Lincoln was a third party.

Great video! I got to interview Jill and she was kind and caring. Most of all, you could see how passionate she is about ending human rights abuse in and outside of our nation. If you're a progressive, you won't for Hillary.

I'm sure one day a third party candidate will have a legitimate shot, but realistically No third party is winning this year. Voting for a third party is just splitting the vote and helping trump win. Should we vote for Stein so Clinton doesnt win in a landslide? What if those votes tilt the scale so much that Trump wins

Each vote for Hillary is a clear vote against Trump's bigotry, bullying and misogynist behaviour; it's not such a clear slap-down if the anti-Trump vote is for Jill Stein or Gary Johnson. Vote Hillary, and hold her to account for her subsequent behaviour.

Sorry guys, but I live in a swing state that leans red. Hilary NEEDS our votes here.
