How to integrate gepants into migraine clinical care

Alan Rapoport, MD, University of California, Los Angeles, CA, discusses the use of gepants in the management of migraine. Gepants are a class of drugs that have emerged over the last years for the acute care and prevention of migraine. Many migraine patients are given triptans for the acute treatment of migraine. However, some patients are refractory to triptans, which are also associated with low tolerability in many patients. Gepants are a favorable alternative for patients unable to use triptans. Among the available gepants, rimegepant is a unique medication since it's the only approved drug for migraine that can be used acutely and preventively, making it very useful for managing migraine patients. This interview took place at the European Academy of Neurology (EAN) 2023 Congress in Budapest, Hungary.
