We had an excess of Shinden prototypes lying around the shop, so the only sensical thing to do was strap a rocket to one.

Josh, this is a serious question for you, I know you have a bitter history with the shindon, but would you ever consider trying to take a stab at it again? Especially given how much you have learned over the years?

Would be fun to bring it back as a chuck glider though. Would be a interesting stem project if it were shrunk down.

Sad it was never released. Understand why, I know Josh is bitter about it though. Feel bad that it didn't work out for the shindon.

Can you please build a Argus As 014? It's a pulsejet powered nazi glider.

Rockets burn black powder like he said, but fireworks also use a powder called flash powder. A tiny tiny amount of it will explode even in open air.

Nice job gluing in the igniter and making a stick of dynamite...

Cool.

Wait, is this the long easy that is in the store???

For a supposed bright boy, he's not . You don't need to extend the igniter to the bottom, a 1/4 of the way would be ok. Full thrust might be delayed, but the flame would reach all the way through the grain in less than a second. Nice simulation of anti aircraft shooting!

So - in this episode you actually designed, built and tested an air to air unguided missile. Lockheed Martin may be tempted to become a sponsor

"The motor exploded" how did that happen?" Umm maybe it was a black powder?

In the 1960's, I was working in the northeastern Nevada desert when I noticed a B-52, very high, flying by. All of a sudden I saw an object drop from the B-52, then shoot almost straight up, at least at an extremely high angle, then out of sight. I suddenly realized what I was observing was one of the experimental flights of the X-15 in one of it's epic flights. It appeared just like the rocket launch in your video. So very cool!

Build a swing wing that's aero elastic? Hit the rocket and they sweep back. I would put the rocket in an aluminium tube that runs nose to tail behind a plunger. When the rocket ignites it forces the plunger up the tube and actuates the swing wing, if it's spring loaded as the rocket burns out the wings return to unswept position and model regains it lower stall speed and stays airborn.

hay guys you should try and make a plain that has a space ship on the top of it that has a rocket in it to help to get to out space or as far up as you can i think that be cool to see ya try

It would be cool to build 3 or 4 like little guided rockets and deploy the same way against the tank or a little foam board building

Now I know why there's a "shi" in "shinden" xD

I like the old days of flight test. The new vids are good but I think the old experimental backyard rocket science is better.
