Of course they have tried before with the Hyundai Genesis, but this is different. This isn't a luxury Hyundai model, but a whole new company, created to be the same vein that Lexus is to Toyota. And early signs are good, with sporty saloons, estates and luxury SUVs already here in Europe in a very short space of time. And now it is entering into the most hotly-contested market space of all, the compact, all electric, sporting crossover. We get an exclusive preview of its new GV60 to find out if it has what it takes in our next episode of Sneak Peeks.

I’ve just come back from Fully Charged UK Live 2022 exhibition ( What a great Exhibition) and sat in the GV60 with Napa leather interior the sense of luxury is simply breath taking and can’t be portrayed in a video it’s the smell, touch and feel. It’s an interior which has you go “Wow!”.

At the show I test drove the Ioniq 5 RWD, EV6 RWD and the EV6 AWD. Curiously on the main roads ( bumpy, bends and dual carriageway) I didn’t pick up the supposed sportier feel of the EV6 over the Ioniq 5- maybe something more discernible when driving at the vehicle’s limits or by a more discerning driver) All three seemed to have the same drive feel.

I have had an EV6 AWD GTLineS w/ heat pump on order since November 2021 which has had the expected delivery delayed twice; from March 2022 to June 2022 then again to December 2022! (a general issue throughout most of the motor industry to some degree or another)

At the show I decided to edge my bets and have now put in an expression of interest for the GV60 - may need to compromise on the performance I would have got with the AWD EV6 to keep in budget but the luxurious interior of the GV60 would be great for those long drive road trips and 226bhp with over 400ftlb torque gives a fairly punchy acceleration anyway.

The European version I understand won’t have facial recognition entry nor the digital wing mirrors no great loss in my book.

Looks like fate is going to determine whether it is the EV6 or GV60 that I end up ( I’ll take which ever is ready first) with but with both being from the Hyundai Group stable of the E-GMP platform I think I’m onto a winner whichever way the coin lands.

Hello Bryan, Really love the design and Interior of this car, love the Headlights too. One Question the camera stalks come out a fair distance I was wondering if they clear the Arches? Get my Honda e in a month cant wait

Hi, very complete presentation. I am 70 years old. I had two Audi and I just ordered my GV Performance two days ago. Genesis will not interest just young people, but people who loves car, style and performance. For the price I just can't find a better choice yet !

I enjoy your videos, but on this and some of the others the volume seems very low. I'm having to crank the speakers on my laptop all the way up and still having a bit of trouble hearing everything.

Interesting car and well presented by you. I was strongly considering a Genesis ICE car before i bought my Tesla instead. Genesis certainly give the German cars a run for their money, I think. I have owned lots of German cars and certainly respect them too. Would like to see 10-15% more range in this Genesis. It will be interesting to see what the real-world numbers are.

Absolutely stunning (the car that is!) - although the battery should offer 300+ mile range to reduce the need to use a public charge point and the hassle that often entails. Genesis - if you don’t design in a rear window wiper I’m not playing with you! All the rear cameras get absolutely filthy in wet weather in no time 😕

I was going to say looks a good car and being their premium model would be competing with the Model Y and Q4 / iX level competition but then the practicality looks massively lower. Looks like the boot has the same shallowness that the Ionic 5 has which really limits the appeal to me. If you don’t need the space then looks a very nice car.

This launch colour not with standing (Genesis's marketing department must be colour blind) I don't mind this model.
Way out of my price range, but then again most EVs here in Australia are out of my price range. I don't fancy taking out a second mortgage to be able to afford an EV.
If I was in the market for such a vehicle, I would certainly consider it.

Looks good, but it's too bulky. An EV powertrain should occupy less space that an ICE, allowing excellent passenger space within compact external dimensions. VW/Cupra seem to have grasped this but other manufacturers persist in replicating the Tesla formula of bloated American automobiles, which are too big for UK roads and car parks.

No matrix LED lights on a so-called luxury brand along with plant-based leather seats. No wireless Android car. No rear wiper option. Manual sun blind instead of tinted windows... Very controversial if you can call this a luxury/high-end brand especially as only 50000 miles warranty, half that of industry standard in UK.

Are you plastic professor?
How do you know slightly cheap plastic?
How cheap is that plastic compared to a BMW or a Lexus?
I think that genesis plastic is more expensive.
