7th Umbral Calamity | Pre-A Realm Reborn | Final Fantasy XIV Lore

Seeing as this is my first video on this topic I assume introductions are due. Hello my name is Kairu. I've been a FFXIV player for a while but as a returning player something that I have struggled with is attempting to remember the game I once played so long ago. I decided that I would create lore videos to help other people who are in the same situation as me.

At first I want to create a smooth chronological line explaining the lore in detail, explaining what happens from base A Realm Reborn to the latest patch of Shadowbringers. The goal is to get this all out prior to Endwalker's release but I am seeing that may not be possible. Its taken around 3 days to cut and edit this video.

Either way I am having a lot of fun and learning lore that I didn't realise was mentioned this early on in the story that was such a crucial point in story later on. You miss so much on your initial play through as there tends to be a lot of time in between each main story release. It is worth revisiting as you end up forgetting the story and how it links together. Sorry if I am rambling but I just thought it would be good to let you guys know who I am and why I am starting this journey with you. Okay now back to the video.

I find it absolutely amazing that they made this because of how 1.0 flopped. They took that mistake and morphed it into a story, which is brilliant. During the last moments of 1.0, before the servers shut down, if you traveled to i think Mor Dhona (i was not there, so i dont know for sure) you could actually see Dalamud falling, and the last announcement they made before shutting the servers down was "we lost contact with the frontlines" which gives me GOOSEBUMPS!! Like, this is insane and i really wish i could've been there to see it.

I sort of wish they made an pre expansion that let's us explore the events that would led to this calamity, but in a reworked state with the modern mechanics. Would be cool if this could be treated as classic since they can't do a classic of the original one due to how bad it was. I just find the story of 1.0 to be interesting in itself to never be explored or experienced by other players anymore

I've watched two other youtubers try to do this, and frankly their attempts were so fucking incoherent it left me more confused when I started. (also burned 5-10 hours sad) Granted you've parsed it out across a series, and I don't understand some colloquialisms (like when you tell me to "unsink my buds"... you have no idea how lost i get :^)) this is quite possibly the best understanding I've had of the FFXIV lore so far :) Also idk if this is just me, but after listening to hours of FFXIV english dubbing - it's only right I have a fellow with an accent regale the lore to me... makes it more immersive lol seems you haven't posted in a while, but bless you for leaving us with this

Great video! I started playing ARR earlier this year, and found out the game has been completely remade. I played many MMO's and the lore was always my favourite part, but I couldn't really find much information about FFXIV. It's great to see a video like this to satisfy my curiousity.

Thanks for this video! As a new player honestly it was extremely weird/almost downright immersion breaking that we see what basically looks like the end of the world in the intro trailer but when you go into the game everything is completely fine, , Limsa Lominsa which you see in the trailer getting hammered with meteor strikes looks completely unscathed, and nobody is talking about any worldending level destruction. Sure theres a lot of talk about the warriors of light disappearing, a lot of ppl dying in the battle, but nowhere near the scale of what you see in the cinematic.

Thanks for finally giving an answer, even if it was a spoiler in the end. Personally I think its kinda stupid to have them basically just pull the rug out from under you at the start of the game and not give any kind of answer for ages, but also seems like not many people are very bothered by the discontinuity from the trailer to when you start the game, so maybe it's only me? Anyway really nice video cheers! :D
