It’s a matter of what context is played! If MMA i’m picking Sambo all day but if it’s ADCC then it’s jiujitsu. It goes to show how each style went its own path.

You could say the same otherwise, many bjj practioners can't effectively defend and implement takedowns, so in that aspect a sambo practioner would maul them, and vise versa with heel hooks

This is wrong, in Russia you do get taught the heel hook in Sambo, it’s not used because it can lead to life long injuries and end one’s career. Maybe in America stuff is different, but in Russia you get taught everything in Sambo, but yes, you can’t use it. So he is partly correct.

That's a good point, but it goes both ways. BJJ is protected from Judoka and wrestlers by allowing buttscooting and banning slams so they never have to do standup skills.

mu opinion as neutral party is sambo was complete self defence..bjj is scary when it comes to part defending yourself against matt/road/wall but sambo has all those technique combined with takedowns which so many variants&technique depend on situation..complete bro, its well rounded..

I've seen John Danaher (i think, i forgot but he's big in bjj world). When a wrestler (like sambo guys) learn BJJ, their progress so fast because wrestilng is a positional grapling and wrestler are used to intense training.

While BJJ guys, they're submission grapling and their training not nearly as intense as wrestling (ie they like to slack off). When BJJ guys learn wrestling it needs time and many of them just give up.

I think that's why Khabib said "if Sambo was easy it would be called jiu jitsu".

Yes heal hooks are illegal but if you grab my foot I’m going to step on your head because that’s legal in my sport combat sambo.
