Bahco 2444 VS Morakniv Companion S

I don't want to argue whether 10 of these knives are better than one $150 knife, but one thing is for sure. The most expensive knife cannot compensate for a lack of skill. If you are a nature lover and you can't really spend too much money, don't wait to save money for one of the popular bushcraft knives. 10$ and 2444 you are ready for almost everything that 99.9% of people face in the forest. Will you be better off with a $300-$500 knife? Maybe yes but maybe not. If you are not one of the 0.1% of demanding users you will get a knife that is generally bigger, thicker, made of hard tool steel with leather sheath. So it's maintenance demanding , hard to sharpen, and you can't just forget it when you get back from the woods. And in the end, if God forbid 🙂 , you lose it, there will be crying for sure.🙂

The Bahco is simply a rebranded Mora Clipper which is the predecessor of the Companion.

As far as I'm concerned Bahco 2444 model has always been made by Mora in Sweden and is simply rebranded Mora Clipper. Not sure if it was discontinued recently or not. Other Bahco knifes, such as 2446 are made in China, not from Sandvik steel.

As others have mentioned, that made in Sweden Bahco is most likely rebranded Mora. I have "Mora Clipper 860MG" and "Bahco 2444-LAP-BULK" knifes here, and they are identical apart from color and markings. And they are great knifes!

Mr. Bahaco company bought the Moorish company, that is why they are the same knives or very similar. Bahaco is the owner of Mora. Regards

Here in South Africa the Bahco costs R280. Not bad.

Totally agree. Some Fiskars models are also similar (but most models come with a much bigger handle, what some people prefer and others not) and also cheaper than Moras (and afaik also produced by Mora).
Mora knives were initially quite a bit cheaper but with rising popularity they also rised the rates ... understandable from their point of view, but not so good for us ;-)

in this case: the Bhaco is a Moras Clipper ... (formerly done by Frost) just rebranded ... (not all Bhacos are like that but in this case it is), and you'll get the Moras branded for the respective hardware store for about 8-12€

I HAVE GOT BOTH OF THEM AND THEY ARE FANTASTIC, BUDGET FRIENDLY. THEY ARE VERY SHARP, YOU CAN SHARPEN THEM VERY EASILY AND IF YOU LOSE THEM OR YOU BREAK THEM, YOU WON'T CRY. FOR THE BAHCO 2444, THERE IS ALSO, THE LAPLANDER EDITION, WITH THE SAME COLOURED HANDLE, LIKE THE COMPANION. BOTH OF THEM ARE EXCELLENT FOR COMPANION KNIVES AND YOU CAN COUNT ON THEM. TRY ALSO, THE BAHCO 2449 CS AND FULL TANG, EXCELLENT, FOR ONLY 19€.
