Minnesota Orchestra at Home: Jenni Seo and Minji Choi

Assistant Principal Viola Jenni Seo and cellist Minji Choi perform Beethoven's Duo in E-flat Major for Viola and Cello. Beethoven jokingly gave this duo a subtitle of “mit zwei obligaten Augengläsern,” which translates to "with two obbligato eyeglasses, earning the work its common nickname of Eyeglass Duo. The piece was written for Beethoven to perform on viola along with his friend, cellist Baron Nikolaus Zmeskall von Domanowecz, both of whom needed eyeglasses in order to read the sheet music to play the piece.
